Trade Training Courses

Trade Training courses are for students who want to gain a HSC and at the same time prepare for work in a trade apprenticeship or traineeship. It is also for students who have a genuine interest in a trade and recognise the benefits of developing skills and knowledge in that area.

A student may do a number of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses as long as they meet NESA requirements for the HSC. A student must present a pattern of study that includes 12 units in Year 11 and 10 units in Year 12.

It is also important to know that only 2 units of VET subjects can be used towards a student’s best 10 units for the calculation of an ATAR. Therefore, most students wanting to follow an ATAR pathway of study only do one VET subject.

Many students however do not want to go straight to University and follow a Non-ATAR pathway of study. In this instance, more than one VET subject can be studied.
